Discord drops the hammer on data-scraping ‘Spy.pet’ website, says it is ‘considering appropriate legal action’-

A week after a report revealed a site called Spy.pet that claimed to have scraped billions of public messages posted to Discord and was offering them for sale, Discord has banned multiple accounts connected to the site, which has now gone offline.

Discord said when Spy.pet was first reported that it was “investigating the matter,” adding that “if we determine that violations of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines have occurred, we will take appropriate steps to enforce our policies.” And so it has: A new 404 Media report says Spy.pet was at one point scraping as many as 14,000 Discord servers, but that number had trailed down to 0 by April 25. The site itself is now offline.

“Our Safety team has been diligently investigating this activity, and we identified certain…

The Lord of the Rings- Gollum gets a big patch but it sounds like the developers are ready to wash their hands of the whole thing-

Daedalic’s catastrophic Lord of the Rings: Gollum saga may finally be grinding to a conclusion. The patch notes for a beefy “major update” that dropped last week conclude with a note that, to my reading, pretty strongly suggests that the studio is putting a bow on it and calling it done.

Gollum was on unsure footing almost from the start, as gamers questioned (rightly, I would say) why anyone would want to assume the role of Tolkien’s tragic, clammy villain in the first place. It bombed badly: We scored it a relatively high 64% in our review, sa…

Steam Sports Fest sale features birds, racoons, pro wrestlers, and the lowest price ever on FIFA 23 on PC—but sorry, no race cars-

Valve has kicked off the Steam Sports Fest, an all-new Steam sale dedicated to sports, and if you’re thinking to yourself, “I don’t like sports games,” it’s worth checking out anyway: What qualifies as a “sport” in this sale is defined very loosely.

There are plenty of conventional sports games to be had, and some very good discounts too. FIFA 23, for instance, is $21/£18/€21 (70% off) and NBA 2K23 is down to $10/£8/€10, an 84% discount. That’s the lowest FIFA 23 has ever been on Steam, according to isthereanydeal.com, and just about as low as NBA 2K23 has gone.

PGA Tour 2K23 is 67% off, taking it to $20/£16.50/€20, and if you’re more of a behind-the-scenes guy than an on-field presence, there’s Football Manager 2023 at $36/&po…
